What STYD is for Odoo

Speak To Your Database (STYD) is a hosted MCP server: Claude, ChatGPT or any app that connects to MCP servers asks it business questions about your Odoo in plain words, and it answers with the figures and how they were counted.

• Answers with stated definitions. Each answer says what was counted, over which period and with which filters, so you can check it.
• Read-only. STYD cannot create, change or delete anything in Odoo, and it reads with your own access rights.
• Nothing to install on your computer. STYD is hosted; your app signs in to your STYD account (OAuth).
• Odoo 15 to 20, on Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or your own server: connect with an Odoo API key (Online, Odoo.sh, on-premise) or the free STYD Bridge module (Odoo.sh, on-premise).
• PostgreSQL and MySQL too: the same connector answers on your databases, each company kept in its own workspace.

Connect it in Claude or ChatGPT

1. Create a STYD account and connect your Odoo (API key or Bridge module). You can start with the sample companies.

What a prompt costs

A prompt is one reply from STYD. If STYD asks you a question to clarify, that counts as a reply too. A general question, advice or a draft counts like any other answer. If something goes wrong on our side, you are not charged a prompt.

STYD and Odoo's own MCP server, and other Odoo MCP servers

Several MCP servers connect AI apps to Odoo. They do different jobs:

• Odoo's own MCP server (from Odoo 20, on Odoo Online too): an Odoo administrator chooses server actions that become tools; it can read and write, and it is part of Odoo.
• Raw-record MCP servers (open source or hosted): tools to search, read, create and update the records of Odoo models; the AI app builds each query itself.
• STYD: business answers instead of records, with the definition, period and filters stated; read-only; Odoo 15 to 20, and PostgreSQL and MySQL in the same connector.

When STYD fits

• You want figures with how they were counted, such as revenue, overdue invoices or stock, rather than lists of records.
• Read-only access is a requirement.
• Your Odoo is version 15 to 19, or you have several Odoo versions.
• You also want answers from a PostgreSQL or MySQL database.

If you want the AI app to create or change records in Odoo, use a server that writes: STYD only reads.

Is there an Odoo MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT?

Yes. Speak To Your Database (STYD) is a hosted MCP server listed in Claude's connector directory and published as a plugin in ChatGPT. It connects to Odoo 15 to 20 and answers business questions about your Odoo data, read-only.

Which Odoo versions and hostings does STYD support?

Odoo 15 to 20. With an Odoo API key: Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or on-premise. With the free STYD Bridge module: Odoo.sh or on-premise. If Odoo blocks external access on your plan, we'll tell you clearly.

Can STYD change data in Odoo?

No. All five tools only read: STYD cannot create, change or delete anything in Odoo. Passwords, tokens, keys, and card or bank numbers are always hidden.

How is STYD different from Odoo's own MCP server?

Odoo's own MCP server, from Odoo 20, turns the server actions an Odoo administrator chooses into tools and can read and write. STYD runs outside Odoo, only reads, works with Odoo 15 to 20, and answers business questions with the definition, the period and the filters stated.
