STYD (Speak to Your Database) is an AI business intelligence assistant for Odoo and business databases. You ask questions in plain language and get explainable answers drawn from your own data, with how each answer was calculated available to inspect: the SQL query on PostgreSQL and MySQL, the Odoo records and filters used on Odoo. It is developed by STYD, a specialist engineering company focused on AI, data, automation and Odoo systems, with Florian Assous leading architecture and technical direction.

It means asking business questions about your Odoo data — like revenue, overdue invoices, or top customers — in plain language and getting answers straight from your Odoo data, instead of building reports by hand. Through the STYD Bridge module or an Odoo API key, STYD reads Odoo through Odoo itself, read-only, and explains which records, filters and period it used.

Yes, with an Odoo API key. An API key connection works with Odoo 15 and later, on Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or on-premise: on Odoo 19 and later the key is enough; on Odoo 15 to 18, STYD also asks for the Odoo login and the database name. If Odoo blocks external access on your plan, we'll tell you clearly. The STYD Bridge module is published for Odoo 15 to 19 and needs Odoo.sh or an on-premise Odoo, because Odoo Online does not allow custom modules.

Yes. STYD is designed around a read-only connection. It reads your data to answer questions and does not write back to your Odoo or other database.

It depends on how Odoo is connected. With the STYD Bridge module, each member of your workspace is linked to their own Odoo user and reads with that user's groups and companies; STYD does not reproduce every Odoo record rule. With an Odoo API key, everyone reads as the Odoo user the key belongs to. Only members of your workspace can ask questions, and only owners or admins can manage the connection. For the safest setup, use a dedicated Odoo user with access only to the data you want STYD to analyze: its rights are the ceiling for what STYD can read.

No. STYD complements Odoo's built-in reporting. It is for fast, conversational questions and exploration with answers you can check — not a replacement for Odoo's operational screens and standard reports.

Yes. On PostgreSQL and MySQL, an answer shows the tables, filters and period it used, and the exact SQL query under Technical details. On Odoo, it shows which Odoo records were read and the filters and period applied; no SQL is involved. You can check the result instead of trusting a black box.

STYD is designed to be safe to point at real data: it only reads; on PostgreSQL and MySQL it checks every query it generates before running it in read-only mode and shows you that query. For production systems we recommend connecting STYD with a dedicated read-only database user — and, where possible, a read replica — so it has exactly the access it needs and nothing more. We onboard new production setups carefully.
