STYD (Speak to Your Database) is an AI business intelligence assistant for Odoo and business databases. You ask questions in plain language and get validated, explainable answers drawn from your own data — with the SQL behind each answer available to inspect. It is built by a founder-led technical studio.

It means asking business questions about your Odoo data — like revenue, overdue invoices, or top customers — in plain language and getting answers straight from your database, instead of building reports by hand. STYD turns your question into a validated SQL query and explains how it reached the result.

STYD is built for direct, read-only access to your Odoo database, which fits self-hosted Odoo best. Odoo Online (SaaS) does not generally expose direct database access, so it is not the primary target today. If you are on Odoo Online, contact us and we'll tell you what is currently possible.

Yes. STYD is designed around a read-only connection. It reads your data to answer questions and does not write back to your Odoo or other database.

STYD connects to Odoo through a single bridge user you configure. STYD enforces its own access controls — only members of your workspace can ask questions, only owners or admins can manage the connection, and answers are scoped by company and by Odoo module permissions. Within those boundaries, data is read as the bridge user, so STYD does not reproduce every individual Odoo user's row-level record rules. For the safest setup, create a dedicated read-only Odoo user with access only to the data you want STYD to analyze — that user's permissions are the ceiling for what STYD can read.

No. STYD complements Odoo's built-in reporting. It is for fast, conversational questions and exploration with verifiable SQL — not a replacement for Odoo's operational screens and standard reports.

Yes. Every answer can show the exact SQL query, the tables used, the filters applied, and the date range, so you can verify the result instead of trusting a black box.

STYD is designed to be safe to point at real data: it uses a read-only connection, validates the SQL it generates before running it, and shows you the query behind every answer. For production systems we recommend connecting STYD with a dedicated read-only database user — and, where possible, a read replica — so it has exactly the access it needs and nothing more. We onboard new production setups carefully.
