Multi-company Odoo, product units and fiscal years in Speak To Your Database

Published

When your Odoo has several companies, a question that names none is answered one company at a time, each in its own currency. Quantities are given in the product's own unit, "this fiscal year" follows the fiscal year set in Odoo, the week starts on the day that is usual in the company's country, and on the Bridge each member's answers follow their own Odoo access rights. See the Bridge module.

Several companies: STYD never adds companies into one mixed total. Name a company in the question to ask about it alone; ask "and for the other company?" to get the same answer there. Inside one company, a total over documents in several currencies is given in the company's currency at the rate Odoo stored; STYD converts nothing itself.

Units: quantities are read with their unit and converted with the units of measure set in Odoo, so 2 boxes of 12 and 6 units add up in the product's own unit. You can ask for another unit, such as "in kg". Units that cannot be converted into each other are named, never added together.

Fiscal year: "this fiscal year", "FY" and "l'exercice" follow the fiscal year set in Odoo. "This year" and "Q2" stay calendar periods, said as such, with one extra line for the fiscal year when it is not the calendar year.

Rights on the Bridge: each member's answers follow their own Odoo access rights, down to a salesperson who may only see their own sales orders. When the Bridge module is too old for STYD to read a member's rights, STYD says so and asks for the module update instead of answering.

Weeks: "this week" starts on Sunday for a company in the United States or Canada, for example, and on Monday in most of Europe, as Odoo does for that country.
