Sample values & detected types

To understand a column, AI Guide looks at a few example values. After an analysis, it also sums up the kinds of tables and fields it found.

Sample values

A column can show a small set of example values, which makes its meaning easier to grasp at a glance. The samples are a limited, de-duplicated selection, not the full contents of the column.

Columns flagged as email addresses, phone numbers or secrets keep no sample values. Other columns keep theirs, and names or addresses among them are not masked, so treat sample data carefully and never copy sensitive examples into public places.

When the analysis runs, the example values of the other columns are sent to the AI provider with the table and column names, to write the descriptions. The Privacy Policy explains what is sent.

Detected data areas and field types

Selecting a connection in the AI Guide shows a short summary of what the analysis detected:

Data areas
The kinds of tables found, for example transactions, business entities, or lookup tables.
Field types
The kinds of columns found, for example identifiers, dates, statuses, or amounts.
Flags
Personal information and URL columns, found by the analysis, and soft-delete columns, which owners and admins mark.

A summary, not a setting

The data areas and field types are made automatically and shown for information only — nobody edits them. To tell STYD what a table or column means, correct its description in the AI Guide.
