Table & column understanding
AI Guide discovers the tables and columns in your connected database and records what each one means, so STYD can use them correctly.
Tables
For each table, AI Guide can hold:
- an AI-drafted description that owners and admins can edit
- a review status: AI draft, Draft, or Confirmed
- a visibility setting: the members it is hidden from
Columns
For each column, AI Guide can hold:
- an AI-drafted description that owners and admins can edit, with the same review status
- its database type
- a few sample values to illustrate the column
- flags: personal information (PII) and URL, set by the analysis, and soft-delete; owners and admins can change all three
How this affects chat
STYD uses this understanding to choose the right tables and columns, interpret business terms, and build a sensible query. Confirming and improving descriptions makes those choices more reliable: saving your own text marks a description Confirmed, and STYD then follows it as a rule.
Visibility is not a database permission
The AI Guide can hide a table from specific members. For those members, STYD leaves the table out of what it knows, and its safety check refuses any query that uses it. This is an extra safety layer, it does not change your database's own permissions. The database user's access is still the real boundary.
