Rate limits

To keep STYD responsive and reliable, the number of questions a person can send in a short time is limited. These limits are the same on every plan.

The limits

STYD chat: up to 20 questions per minute per person in each workspace.
API and AI apps: up to 30 questions per minute per person (or API key) in each workspace.
At most 8 questions waiting per person and 20 per workspace.
The three sample companies: up to 20 questions per minute for each sample, shared by all users.
A question can hold up to 15,000 characters in STYD chat, and up to 1,000 characters through the API and AI apps.

Questions that keep failing

A question that ends without an answer uses no prompt, but it still costs STYD work. After 20 such questions in one hour from the same person (or the same API key) in a workspace, new questions from that person wait until the hour has passed. Colleagues are not affected. The message says how long to wait.

What happens at a limit

STYD asks you to wait a moment and try again. The question is not run and no prompt is used.

Daily safety limit

If STYD's total AI use over a day becomes unusually high, new questions can be paused for a while to protect the service. Workspaces without a plan and without top-up prompts are paused first. You see “STYD is busy right now, please try again later”, nothing is charged, and the question can be asked again later.

If you run into a limit

Space out automated or bulk requests.
Wait for running questions to finish before sending more.
Contact STYD if your use case needs more headroom.
