When to use table hiding

Table hiding is a useful tool for keeping STYD focused and reducing accidental exposure. Here is when it helps most.

Good times to hide a table

Sensitive tables
Payroll-like data or other information most users should not query through STYD.
Irrelevant or technical tables
Internal plumbing that adds noise without business value.
Confusing duplicates
Near-identical tables that can lead STYD to the wrong one.
Audit and log tables
High-volume system or log tables that rarely answer business questions.

Why it helps

Hiding the right tables simplifies the data STYD considers, which can improve accuracy and reduce the chance of surfacing something that should stay out of view. Hiding is set for each member, and STYD refuses queries on a table hidden from the member who asks.

Hiding is a helpful layer, not a substitute for database permissions. Use it on top of proper database and Odoo access controls.
