Add connection
A connection lets STYD read a data source, Odoo or a database, and answer questions about your data.
What you can connect
With an Odoo API key (the quickest way, Odoo 15 and later) or with the STYD Bridge add-on (one Odoo user per person). It has its own documentation section.
A database, with a read-only user.
A database, with a read-only user.
Three fictional companies that STYD provides, so you can ask questions before you connect your own data. They are marked “Sample data”.
A locked row that holds the documents and spreadsheets you add in Settings → Documents. It is not a database and you do not create it.
Create a database connection
A database must be reachable at a public address. If it only accepts approved addresses, allow STYD’s: the form lists them. Localhost and private-network addresses are refused.
After you save
You can chat with a database as soon as it is saved. STYD also offers to analyse it with the AI Guide, which adds table and column descriptions and a database summary, so answers improve. Your first analysis is included while your workspace still has an AI Guide setup left (see Pricing) and starts by itself, for databases of up to 3,000 columns; otherwise STYD shows its price in prompts first, and an owner or admin confirms it.
Test connection
The test connection button verifies that your credentials and database access are valid before saving. If it fails, STYD shows one of four plain messages; see Common connection errors.
Managing connections
You can update connection settings at any time.
Archiving hides a connection and erases its password or API key; its past answers, sample values, descriptions and linked Odoo users stay until the workspace is deleted. Reconnect it later to use it again, with its history.
Connections can be used across multiple chats in the same workspace.
Connections belong to a single workspace.
Important notes
Use a database user with read-only permissions for maximum safety.
If you add new tables or columns, analyse the database again so the AI Guide picks them up. After the first analysis, every new one costs prompts, and STYD shows the price before you confirm.
Credentials are securely stored and encrypted.
