Permission errors
A permission error means an action, or some data, is not available to you right now. The cause is usually a role, a workspace setting, a key, or a database grant.
Common causes
Your role is not owner or admin for an admin-only action.
Only the owner can change a role, remove a member, or buy prompts.
A viewer cannot ask questions. The message says: “Viewers can read conversations but can't ask questions. Ask a workspace admin to change your role.”
A member can read the workspace settings but cannot change them.
A table is hidden from you in the AI Guide. The answer says that part of the data is hidden for you in this workspace.
The chat thread is private and has not been shared with you.
An API key is missing, invalid, revoked, or for another workspace.
AI apps are switched off for the workspace.
The read-only database user lacks source-level permission.
In Odoo, the mapped user or company scope restricts the records.
What to check
Verify your role in the workspace (see Core Concepts → Roles & permissions).
Verify the API key and that it belongs to the right workspace.
Verify the read-only database account has the access it needs.
Check the AI Guide table visibility for the data you expect.
Check Odoo user mapping and company scope if you use Odoo.
Ask an owner or admin to review your access.
The Security section explains roles, table visibility, and access layers in more depth. Contact STYD if access still does not behave as expected.
