First successful query walkthrough

This example shows how STYD processes a question and turns it into a reliable database answer.

Example question

Show the number of customers created this month

What STYD does

STYD first understands the intent of the question: counting customers within a specific time range.

Identifies the customers table
Finds the creation date column
Works out “this month” as exact dates, in your business timezone
Builds a count query

Generated SQL

If the question is asked in October 2026, the query looks like this. The two dates are computed by STYD’s code, not guessed by the model.

SELECT COUNT(*)
FROM customers
WHERE created_at >= '2026-10-01'
  AND created_at <  '2026-11-01';
The answer also states what STYD assumed, for example which date column it used and the period it applied, so you can check it. On Odoo there is no SQL: STYD shows the records, filters and period it used.

Result

STYD returns the total number of customers created this month, based on your database data.

Why this works

Correct table selection
Exact dates for the period
A query checked before it runs
Read-only execution

Key takeaway

STYD builds the answer from your data with a checked, read-only query, and shows how, so you can review it.
