General questions and advice

STYD also answers questions that need no data, such as a definition, a method or advice. These answers come from general knowledge and are labelled.

What you can ask

A definition
“What is EBITDA?”, “C'est quoi un BFR ?”
A method
“How do I write a good payment reminder?”
Advice on your figures
“Revenue dropped last month. What should we do?” STYD first answers from your data, then adds advice.
A draft
An email, a message or a note. See Drafts.

The “General knowledge” label

An answer written from general knowledge shows the source chip General knowledge. Its “How I found this” says: “Written from general knowledge and your business context, not from your data.”

When STYD adds advice or an explanation after an answer from your data or your documents, that part comes after a divider, under its own General knowledge tag. The answer from your data is shown first, while STYD shows “Adding advice…”. A simple lookup, such as “Top 10 customers by revenue”, gets no general part.

Figures about your business come only from your data or your documents. A general part may repeat figures from the answer above it. A typical range (“often 30 to 60 days”) is written as general knowledge, never as your figure.

When your data does not hold the answer

STYD says so first (for example, “This database holds no information about customer churn”), then can add general guidance, labelled General knowledge, such as how that figure is usually measured. It never fills the gap with invented figures.

Notes added to general answers

May be out of date
Laws, rates, prices and software versions change. Such an answer ends with “General knowledge — may be out of date.”
Legal, tax, medical or investment topics
The answer gives general principles only and ends with a line such as “check with a lawyer for your situation”.

Check general advice before you act on it. See Chat limitations.

Questions about STYD itself

STYD answers questions about how it works and where things are in Settings from what STYD really does. Questions about privacy, running on your own server, automation, integrations or a custom build get a short answer and the offer of a free 30-minute review of your setup with contact@speaktoyourdatabase.com.

Prompts

A general question, advice or a draft counts like any other answer: 1 prompt. A data answer with a general part after it is still 1 prompt.

A question about STYD itself or its setup: free, up to 10 per person per day, then 1 prompt.
An answer that is only the custom-build offer: free, up to 10 per person per day, then 1 prompt.
A short reply such as “thanks” or “hello”: free, up to 10 per person per hour, then 1 prompt.
A question that ends in an error or a setup message: free.

In Claude or ChatGPT

Through an AI app, STYD returns the part that comes from your data or your documents. The app answers general questions itself.
